I am trying to clean out and make better my utility room . I have cleaned out two drawers and sorted the bolts and nuts and screws in to jars to go to the garage. Cleaned the one cupboard and sorted the cans of food I put out there. I have started on the window quilt to cover the back door in cold weather. Want to do one for the small window and re-do the wash box and curtain cover for it. I put a large cardboard box in the space and put dividers and then the wash is sorted and know when a load. Need this more in winter when I do only couple loads at a time. Couple more cupboards need sorting out. Will not be done fast.
Spuds, this utility room I think at one time was a back porch and they inclosed it. North wall is the door and rest cupboards. It is same roof as kitchen and bed room and pantry. I re-weatherstriped the door last year. Put plastic on the out side. I have 9 inches of insulation over head on this part. I have plastic on the window. Now what is the best way to fast the window quilt to the door. Flat and plan to roll it up days. Or when warmer. What kind of hardware?.
Before gets cool I need check the caulking around the door and window and what ever. That batting of 4 different layers is thick to work with.
I made insulated drapes for my diningroom years ago. Widow quilt is that a quilt that fits over the window. You can buy. More like a shade. This one I am working on will be flat and will roll up from the bottom. I will not try to put in the string and rings to pull it up. It will have a dowel or stick in the bottom hem that can be taken out. Least I think that will work. Make it easlier to roll up I think. I am learning on this one by guess and by golly how. It was down to 46 this AM. So I had better be getting any caulking done or be too cold.

I have a sliding glass door that needs help in the winter! Can you give me an idea for that? As in, do you have a way to do it sliding from left to right instead of up and down?
Thank you a bunch.
What exactly is the problem? The cold? Here is what Mrs did, these are heavy curtains with 2 layers of heavy material. They lay flat againts the walls around door and overlap in the middle. They block a LOT of cold and drafts.
It is insulated. I insulated my drapes buy putting a quilted material in side the drape. Can buy quilt blanket material for inside and there is a yard material it is air proof one can use. I have some pieces of that I will put inside the kitchen curtains to help. Inside the drap it does not show any way.
