Takes 2 buckets.
For the bottom water well bucket drill a weep hole about 3 inches up.It must be below bottom of top bucket when its put in.This keeps water from overfilling.
For the planter bucket drill a bunch of weep holes,a 1.5 inch for the watering pipe, and a 3.5 to 4 inch for the cup/wick.
Now make the wick from a cup.Im using a planter cup,a styrofoam coffee cup or anything that will fit the hole.Put some holes in this cup so water can soak in.I had to make my cup fit hole.
Place the cup in planter bucket so it reaches all the way to the bottom of water well bucket when you put it in.
Now just pack dirt into cup and the bucket.Water it well and ready to plant. Advantages are ....you can move it,you can bring indoors....Water it thru pipe until water comes out weep hole, you will need to water weekly up to 3 times a week depending on how much plants drink.NO water waste.Soil perfectly moist.Add some fertilizer and it is essentially a hydroponic system without any pumps or hard to manage expensive chemicals. No weeding, few weeds that do grow are easy to pick.
Fertilize just twice a year, once with a balanced grow fertilizer, and later with a blooming fertilizer if you want.
