We RE GOING TO SEE IF THE FOOD PEOPLE At Church need help,we have the time.
They throw food out they have so much donated by stores. We got 4 full grocery bags and a case of cucumbers. The cukes will split with our birds, they liked that idea at church.
So we got white onions, red and yellow bell peppers, clemintine tangerines,a spaghetti squash, kiwis, roma tomatoes.2 mexican peppers.
Got a 24 thing of dinner rolls, wheat, wheat bread 2 loaves making dressing for turkey,6 hotdog buns.
Got all kinds of snack foods like granola packs,3 kinds of cookies,12 hostess cupcakes (will have to freeze those.Corn chips,3 types of crackers, whole wheat flour tortillas, pumpkin coffee flavor, tums, flu medicine, lollipops, graham crackers,2 rootbeers, banana strawberry drink?
Few other things I guess.
Came home, made turkey sandwiches using our turkey and mayo, rest from them.Mrs making dressing for stuffing,I made cucumber, pepper, tomato and onions and vinegar salad.Froze the rolls in 4 packs.Cleaned and kept crispest cukes for us,birds ate 4,good birds.
Im sure there is stuff Im leaving out.Made sure to thank everyone (thats all they get for this),shook a few hands. How darn nice was that??? Oh,and my neighbor and wife made it too, very cool!
Very cool - We get waste food from a groc store for the pigs - most of it is not waste! We have group that we share with.
Yes,if only had room for a pig could raise it on the left overs, they told us after done we could have what we wanted, yesterday would be like 50 loaves of bread and cases of apples.EASILY support a pig,and more! That was at the church.
I need to think this out,has to be a way to use that, chickens can eat a lot of it.
Church takes about 45 minutes with wait times, you pick what you want.
The other is go in building, sign in,they hand you a bag or 2.In and out.takes 15 minutes if that from house to home.Today it was juices(a whole bag),5 cans canned salmon,2 cans pears,2 things of pasta, can of stew,2 boxes quick rice. That is the USDA/Volunteer one,its 3 time a month, church is 2 times a month.Oh,2 very large bags dried cranberries,I love em and they are very pricey,I wouldnt be buying them.
Dang but a lot of free food here! And they have more than they can give away.I have three folks from the 'hood now going there, retirees and a low income family lady.
Nobody seems to know its available,I found it online by trying to cut my expenses.
Like this month saved 20% or 7 dollars from gas bill, and a whopping 40 bucks off electric, that one 30% off. Its called care program, its about 2 dollars of your monthly bill charges, then if income goes below certain level you get the savings. So collecting back on what I paid 40 years, good deal now.Im pretty sure those are a national program.
Boy a lot of bennies if poor or old.We arent poor because we paid all off,but we are low income for next 7 years. When I get SS benefits we wont qualify on income based things any more.
