Today I tried making bread in the crockpot, and it worked!!!!
All you need is a 1# bread dough, placed in the crockpot (that has been lined with parchment paper) on high, and an hour to 2 1/2 hours you will have bread. The time difference is because not all highs are the same temps. Mine took 1 1/2 hours. It's not crusty bread, but it is very good. If you wanted crusty, you could put it in broiler for a few minutes to get the color and crust texture you would like.
I was very tempted to take the dough out after it rose in the crockpot and bake as I normally would. I think this will come in handy when I go to sourdoughs, that need more temp control and longer rise times.
My crockpot isn't big enough to hold a bread pan, but they also say you could put your dough in the pan, and place the pan in the crockpot.
Pretty cool thing, I didn't think of for the crockpot.
