Program of =10,30,or 60 days.Goal of 2 liters or so a day.No other foods.
First day of the juicing. Its noon,1st juice is
4 leafs Kale
4 celery sticks
1 large cucumber
1/2 LARGE lemon
1 inch ginger root.
Yield - 28 ounces ====================== Thats pretty good! Tart flavor, smells like a new mowed lawn.I like it. I have 16 ounces,Mrs doing her own thing so I wont be putting hers here.Thought she was onboard for juicing, not so,wants to load up on sugary smoothies with lots of pulp, whole different program. ==================================== 4:30 pm
3 roma toms
4 Kale leaves,small
A gala and a red apple
Yield 24 ounces,Im having it all.
Its official,Im starving to death.God would not have made kielbasa if he didnt want me to eat it Im convinced.
BP 137/73,HR 70. 60mg Procardia XL and 40 mg Lisinopril today. ===========================
5:30 pm Bp 120/74,HR 64 =========================== 7pm
1 pear,1 orange
4 romaine lettuce leaves
Small chunk onion
7 of Roma toms and 7 Celery
4 medium carrots
Yield 32 ounces - Im drinking 24 ounces. ======================= 730pm BP 116/61,HR 64
We do some juicing...but I like eating. Hubby does a apple, celery, carrot, broccoli, cucumber and a pear, sometimes he puts in a little winter squash - just for something different. We spilt it. I have mine before going to work, and it helps me not have a snack mid morning.
We've watched that, but we like eating which is why we've gone to doing that as a "snack" type thing, rather than a meal replacement.
I (we) find having a pear with it really blends the flavors, and takes out some of the strong peppery flavor that things like kale (and broccoli - much mellower than kale) adds to it - I don't like the strong peppery flavor. The winter squash gives it a milkshake type texture and taste.
I wish you well with this...finding the right path for a happier healthier person isn't easy...my path is taking years (about 18 months into now) but I think this path will keep me from putting it back on, and falling into old habits when I stop really watching what I'm doing...at least that's the plan.

I need to go for a reboot, then when goal reached move on eating better.Ive never done a diet in my life,I think thats a good thing as I dont have the negative thoughts that many failed dieters bring in to the diet.I can only see success, not failure.
That sounds like a good plan Bonnie.I will hope for one or 2 meals of juice after reboot, then a well balanced meal after.Much less calories and portion control for sure in my future.Hard to control when you dont know really what your actual caloric intake is. =========================== 4-23-14 1 procardia xl this am
BP average 120/74,HR 74,HR was 59 in bed,too low too quickly, cut out lisinopril and will take later as needed.Huge hunger pangs receding, feel a little better, last evening rough.Hungry,a small headache,no big deal.Drank a little tea with lemon. No coffee since 4/21.Also was very cold, lower bp and hr Im sure less peripheral circulation, hands cold to touch.Went to bed 10pm,up at 4am
1 collard leaf
2 Kale leaf
Yield-26 ounces,will drink it all.
I like that blend. ================ 8AM,BP 124/64,HR75 This is without the lisinopril. 9AM,bp 113/63,HR74 ===================== 1030,lunch time
1 collard green leaf
2 romaine lettuce leaf
Kind of bitter,Im not excited with the collard green,or smell. But still OK.Kale is a winner for sure ======================= BP all over the place, high of 145/82,HR-103 with exertion,to the 125/65 HR-79 at rest.

So Im at Cardenas with my cart literally full of veggies.Young lady bagging says thats a lot of vegetables.Said yes,Im juicing, she says,Oh,you are making the green stuff? I was impressed,a LOT of people apparently have heard of this, was total news to me.Video seen by 5 million, thats amazing.

Well, went to bed,got up,bathroom, then weighed myself.237. Started this at 247,this is insane, down 10 lbs? But I see, just a quart of fluid is 2 lbs,so have to only weigh first thing in AM after bathroom.

Day 5,chugging right along, yup, hunger is much more managable now.Had a broth last night, got my salt overload, but man,it was like eating again
Further research found out broth can be included in the water part.Just made a beautiful cookie tray with onion, carrots, zucchini, tomatoes and garlic, baked in 400F oven for one hour after sprinkling with maybe a TBS of olive oil, salt and pepper.
Now to simmer in pot for 90 minutes and veggie broth coming up.
Im turning into a horse...first I thought I was Mr Ed,we both made green ploppies, now that that has stopped Ive turned into a racehorse,at least Im peeing like one.

OK,2 weeks in.
Lost 20 lbs,or 2 briskets,or 2 bowling balls,or when I was carrying that HEAVY half a 5 gallon water container bottle for the dog water dish, sheesh,I was carrying that 24/7,what a difference!
Can say for sure its sure made a difference in how I feel.Like when I rise from sitting, geeze, its actually notably easier, how cool is that?
I also dumped the coffee at the same time, body sure is a lot less tense, dont get fine tremors any more. From a pot a day, from 40 year history, surprised, that alone has been a really notable change.I do drink a tea a day, some with caffeine, mostly without, even so a ton less caffeine.
But to be honest I havent really felt all that energetic until evening rolls around, and getting a bit bored with just drinking juices.
But every morning I get up,go potty, weigh myself and every morning the weight is down, its a powerful motivator for sure to keep going.Im sure if I wasnt seeing change it would be a lot more difficult for me to stick to a diet long term, but now I see it works, bet I can after this.
Ive become a calorie counter for sure, and finding a lot you can eat without tons of useless calories.
That is awesome!!! One of my three things today was my morning weigh in. The center number down again, but I'm only doing a 1/2-1 pound a week. I'm good with that...I was very surprised at how I felt having to get up from the floor (doing things on the bottom shelves at work)with out it being such a struggle (wonder what it will be like when the rest of the weight goes) also realizing I was doing it without something to pad my knees. Before my knees would hurt. Or when I looked at a 50# bag of potatoes, and realized I was carrying that and more around with me...some awesome insights.
Funny you mentioned coffee...mine seem to have waned some also...I don't drink as much as I used to. Maybe we aren't needing that caffeine like we used to.
The goal of being healthy, and happy is so much better than a number goal on a scale. I'd be very interested to hear about what substitutions you make when you start eating again. I know I'm much more interested in veggies now than I had been, I can eat more, and get more of what my body needs without adding a whole lot of calories.
Just type in any food, even fast foods like Wendys Burger, that sort of thing. You can also change the amt or measurement parameter. Then we go looking around for lower calories substitutes.Weve also done a lot of surfing with low calorie thru internet searches.A lot of foods are just stupid crazy calorie wise.
And an example, mayonnaise is like 90/tbsp,low fat is 40's,and fat free is 11 calories !!! Imagine how that changes tuna sandwich or potato salad or tartar sauce, its just finding other choices, this blows my mind!I truly had no idea the ranges were so vast.
There is just so much that can be modified of your favorites, etc.Like a hotdog at 120-150 cals is just 50 when 97% fat free, thats crazy.Load one up on a bun with kraut and such and youre in for less than 200 calories,CRAZY!Throw enough veggies on it and 2 would be super filling.
We are going to get a food weighing scale so we can do portion control, hence knowing just how many calories we are cooking up and then be able to plan meals accurately and meet our daily calorie goals.
When I was making my lettuce sandwiches for lunch, I noticed that the mayo was 100cal a TBSP, mustard was 0...lettuce and mustard don't work for me, but if I put ham on the sandwich (2 slices, less than 70 calories - package said 3 slices was a serving at 70 calories) I could use mustard and still be ahead of the game...
I've been shooting for more "real foods" less processed, less ingredients and watching for added sugars. Looking at salad dressings, boy that can really change the healthy meal into something else...I started making my own, and having my loved 1000 Island when we go out.

Yes,making our own foods gets us out of so many calories the manufacturers somehow think we need, also the massive amts of salts.Everything just about has fructose, why?
We were talking about your bean bread, need to look at your recipes, that has to be a huge calorie saver I would think, when I get a chance I will run the numbers.Darn bread just has a lot of calories that I would like to reduce too.

Day 21,still plugging along.Have nibbled on a few things, but thats it,not enough to matter, like a lemon slice, few kernels corn,a few garlics from the broth.
One problem is dehydration, dizzy in morning a bit when standing until I get fluids on board.Ive cut out my lisinopril from 40mg to 20 to none, but may take it back to 10mg a day.BP max without it as high as 140/75,a little higher than I want but in safe range per guidelines, your judgement call on that.
Today I hit 220 lbs, will be last day in 220's. Total loss in 21 days is 27 lbs.
1/3rd through the initial goal of 60 days.Loosing a pound/day average now,so looks like 180 after 60 days will be the final.
A day at a time, cant say where it will end, thats up to my body.

Both health and weight. I wasnt watching what I was doing, and my thyroid got low and BAMM,wt. shot up FAST.Went to Dr,just prescribed more meds, including BP which also went up.Finally got to point I plain felt baaaad. Was wearing me out hauling the wt. around.
Got angry at myself and the whole situation,I didnt want more meds.So saw Rita at Pharmer Phils post about juice at same time this was happening. And how it loses wt and can make a big improvement in health with the wt loss and micronutrient blast and here I am. Didnt have a choice, had to do something, medicine was NOT the answer.
In a couple days will be 30 days of 60,should reach 180 lbs by then.May stick it out to 160,but then again I really want to eat again.
what is fascinating to me is how little I knew of calories and the hidden ones you dont think of.Those really slammed me,hard! Its easy to get a days calories in one junk food meal, hey that was fine 20 years ago when I was far more active, but is killer now for me.That nonsense,I wasnt even aware of,was doing me in.
But hey,Im 57,couldnt keep on the route I was going,I would have been a balloon if I did.So HOPEFULLY,when this is done I will be on a lot less meds, and feeling a lot better.Already so many positive changes, inspired to do more.Wt loss and diet is only the start.Next is smokes are going as soon as diet over I hope, and doing exercise to tone body up.Dont know yet what I can do exercise wise, joints arent what they use to be,have to see where Im at in that respect when wt is gone.
Ive been thinking of grilled chicken in lettuce wraps with veggie fillings, now THATS a meal.Ive even found lo cal Mexican foods, yumm! And I will still juice to get all those good nutrients.
Your guys sure doing good. I eat out and I gain a pound or two to knock off. So last week ate out twice. Thursday and Sunday. Planning to go to town tomorrow and will eat out. I have done better this winter with going out. Least mentally. I guess worth the cost. I go back to Doctor Aug or Sept he said. He wants me in before cold nasty weather hits. I just eat a little less to get wt down. I wt each morning. I walk and that has helped me. My hands are still bad but lot better. Dr said put my support/splints on when I lift box but I have for any lifting. I lift a milk jug. Wrists are feeling better. Knees are pretty good. He wants to doctor the whole body. Since he is on his own . I try to cut a trash bag of rags each week now. Son is not out but he said he would rather have some ahead. I am slower getting it done. But doctor had to up my heart rate pill some more. Not as slow as he wants. I will get a drawn blood test next time. He will send me over to local hospital down there. Least I think where will send me. He fixed me a new prescription for the heart rate pills.
Kind sucks getting older and realizing that we can't do what we used to...
This month was going to be starting some firming exercises - tired of arms flapping in the breeze - I'm not doing real well with it though.
Is there a way to help your thyroid work better without meds? One of the girls at work suggested I get my thyroid checked...I think I'm tired because of the sinus weather change thing...but if there were a natural way to help it, give me more energy then I think I would like to try that. That way if it's still healthy, I wouldn't be hurting it...guess that's my next health research topic.

Weight 217 lbs Loss 30 lbs day 24 ----------------- Yes,there are ways to improve thyroid function.
Thyroid damage is PANDEMIC in the USA. So something is out there that has slammed our thyroids. When mine discovered to be next to nothing Dr said....its like Dead Man Walking.
IIRC the treatment besides thyroid supplementation is a diet rich in iodine, but dont quote me on that.I too need to do the research on that. And where do we get Kelp, mostly right out of the irradiated Pacific thanks to the continuing DISASTER that is Fukushima. Gotta love it.But hey, only 30-50 more years of that they say, because the reality is,there is NOTHING that can be done about it.
Thyroid seems to run in some families. Some states are worse. Mom had a goiter back in Neb and when they moved to Colorado it went away.
My oldest sister back in 50/60 the dumb doctor was treating for goiter. Got so bad she went to hospital and they found a tumor the size of chicken egg and took that out. Not long after breast cancer and then cancer through her. They took a breast and ovaries. She died of it.
My thyroid is a little low they say. I take a pill every day. My niece says she had breast cancer from my sister, her aunt. I told her I do not think so my sister stared with thyroid. and spread. Niece lives in OK and she now says every family there has a least one cancer. OK is high I know.
My thyroid pills had to be refilled and renewed. I left it Friday and told I would get it Monday. $22.50 and I have drug ins that works now here. It was 3 prescriptions, knew he had fixed my heart rate pill so get 180 for 90 days. I did not ask more more other pills but some how his new prescription went in plus the warfarin. I had enough with me to pay it. $7.50 each. Would soon need. I am stocked on pills for a bit I guess. I was not low enough on heart rate pill or warfarin to get more. He was trying get on computer and his nurse was told to call to be sure. I have 3 different dates on the prescriptions. The other prescription I had refilled. I will have to remember to take the new bottles in for refill. So all 4 have been refilled and 3 renewed. I will have the drawn blood test in Aug or Sept when I go in again. Thyroid will be checked then and other stuff and I guess sugar. I do not get down enough liquid it seems. Things should be okay. It is or was just my INR that bounce around. My doctor says it dos that. Dr Mears set it lower and if I flare I should still be in. 7 or 8 months now okay I think. Nurse that does it just same dose and a month.
