I've added a Bible app to my IPhone so while at the gym Monday I listened to some of Proverbs, which is my favorite book of the Bible. I've heard in sermons and read in the Bible over and over and I know you have too about your days being lengthened here on earth (which at this point doesn't seem like such a great thing) and I always thought that meant if you do what is right God is going to throw you an extra day or two at the end. Listening to Proverbs 3 " My son, forget not my law, but let thine heart keep my commandments: For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee", I realized that if we live by God's principals we're going to live our life to our fullest days. If we don't sweat the small stuff, if we are "anxious for nothing", our blood pressure probably won't be out the roof, if we don't "strive with a man without cause" we may not get beat to death, if we're not drunk with wine to excess our livers will thank us and we won't fall down and break our head open, if we aren't gluttons our heart and arteries won't be filled with fat, and on and on. We have to live in the world, but our particular part of the world will be better if we just live according to God's principals and the Bible says we will have length of days, long life, and peace. One person's length of days may end up being 22 years while another's is 98 years. We don't know why and we don't have the answer to that. But Proverbs says it plain as can be. If you want length of days and peace "Forget not my law."
