I think a lot of people here and on several other boards I am on are really missing something here. I like most other people interested in prepping stock as much food and other things as we can. But what about water ? Water is one of the fastest diminishing things in our country. Aquifers are drying up along with lakes at an alarming rate. There is already one small town in Calif (yea I know , Calif) that is recycling BLACK WATER for drinking purposes coming out of your tap! I am in the process of building a very nice large roof rainwater collection system. I have a 1500 gal tank, a 200 gal tank and 4 55 gal drums now. I really think water is going to be a very big issue in the soon coming problems along of course with everything else.
You can last up to about a month without food, but water? At the very least , everyone should have a means to purify water, no matter where you find it. Storage is even better. Re-newing your storage when possible is also a must. I would strongly suggest everyone out there in cyberland give this issue a lot of thought. Think of how you would survive with your city and gobernut supplies no longer supplying you with water ! Now what would you do ?
That is one thing that is plentiful here-at least for the near future. Nadja, you be careful who you mention this to. Folks in King county Washington and surrounding area were taken to task for collecting more that I believe it was 50 gallons of rain! The official twits were trying to figure out a way to meter and fee those who tried to collect rain. Yeah, go figure. If there is any way to bend you over and take your money, Seattle and surrounding area is the champ. I am fortunate to have a year round creek about 100 feet away if push comes to shove. I was well into putting together a ram pump for the creek, but got so sick it is just sitting on the bench. Good luck with your efforts to collect and purify/filter.
