I bought a couple of boxes of 100 watt incandescents a couple of years ago when all this gibberish started. I use one in the pump house in cold weather to keep a bit of heat in there when the temps drop below the twenties. Common practice in rural areas, but of course the fools in congress have no concept of this. Shame we aren't allowed to make our own decisions. I applaud the efforts to conserve power and the new bulbs are mostly okay, although some of those CFLs throw a peculiar light that bothers my eyes. Spuds put up a dandy looking LED bulb on here about a year ago-cheap to death. I wonder if that is still available?
Yup,still have the 4 and 6 watt bulbs and for the power they use i like em,but they arent a panacea, color rendering is wrong, you look grey under them. But good to read by IMO.
Good price on the CFL's Co.I dont know tho...I dont think thats really 60 watt equivalent on those things,I think 40 or less is more accurate,I have a bunch and think claiming 60 isnt right. One hardly lights my kitchen at all.
They vote to not outlaw the regular blubs. I have a batch. I have been using regular 40's in my lamps. 4 for a $1 and now the price has came up. If I can have 60 W and use less electric than 40 W . I am still not sure I want them.
I have now 2 curly light blubs put in. As they give out I am replacing with the curly. Have to use a ladder to get to the ceiling. Son has done that. Outside back door light quit and I thought be blub but it was the wiring. Son fixed it and new blub. It only will come on when dark enough. I keep it turned off. Front door light same. I turn it on when I leave in the morning and it is off all day and comes on at dark so I can see to get in. Bus gets back late. That is nice. These too high ceiling for me is not nice. Hopeful these curly blubs will last and son will not have to put in all the time. Hall and pantry so far is all that has. They seem to have as much light as the old 60w. I will need to buy more of them and get some candle bulbs for the dinning room as small base. I know I have some down home I used in a bed lamp, least think same size. To leave light in house I now use the hall light. The lamp uses a 3 way. I do not think anything here will use a 100w.
