I have never been to one. My oldest son is published short stories and went and read his. Book of short stories of local writers there I guess.
All I have did is story hours for kids and never did go to the spellbinders to try and learn more. I had gone to few work shops. A guy in there one day while I read after wards told me I was good. He'd been to readings in N Y C he said. Boss had never heard me read and she decided I was not doing things right and she would get story hour start up good. I had heard her read and do the Xmas special one time. Compared to others that doing it she did not have it. Did she get story hour started up. NO! She finally said just do the best I could and keep trying. That guy did help me have a little more confindence doing it. I had joined Toastmistress to be able to get up and talk before a group. I was welcome to go do story hour at the day care center. I stopped at their yard sale and she showed me the place as they had taken over what had been part of the Hospital system here and she was private owner. She told me I was welcome to come read to the kids.
Kim, I think you are doing good. Good luck and have fun doing it.
congratulations, Kim. Wish I had Talent like you to put your thoughts and feelings onto paper. By the way the 11th will be Wiffey and my 34th wedding anniversary. Hard to believe we dated for a whole three weeks before getting married! I believe in love at first sight.
And, I didn't get to go. Flu hit me at 2:30 a.m. Friday morning, which I mistook for 5th Disease hitting me.... and I got bronchitis and sinusitis on top of that... so I'm at home this week, recouping so I can teach and NRA class this weekend!
