Supper will be piece of pork roast I got out and recooked in soupy rice, greenbeans and fried zucchini from the freezer and milk Then few tostas crackers with a litttle cream cheese. Mexican crackers something like Ritz but not the salt. Never had any before and saw at Dollar tree. Just got one box and will get more of them when I go to Vernal again if they have any left. I had rice at noon. Been trying to have few kinds of crackers. Have Maria's, sweet kind of Mexican cracker.
Yeaah, leftovers and will be eating about for days. Least I am eating. I will have soupy rice at noon for few more days. I fried zucchinni had put in freezer, some I grew. least one more serving of pork roast and the bone. Bone can go in some beans. I need clean out old stuff.
I ate some different foods down at my son's. Never ate quinola before, Good. Ones systems has to get use to that whole grains.
Bonnie, A can of pumpkin is a dollar or more. No pie for Tday we had chocolate pudding. Son does not do pie crusts. I was teen when I made first pie and it was gooseberry and I had the crust a bit too short I guess. I had to patch the top crust but they all ate it. They had all gone to fix fence and I was too sick to go. I was left at the ranch house to cook. Mom usually did not go out to help. I was alone. She always just picked up the crust and put in the pan. I have learned to roll it up on the pin and put it in. I had a fight with that crust I can tell you. But we had pie. No one complained either.
Supper last night was boiled chicken leg and , seasoned mashed taters and greenbeans and milk.
Sixteen degrees here right now, very heavy frost, the deer are eating corn and have ice frozen on their backs. I am making a huge pot of chicken soup from chunked fried chicken and many veggies. I have discovered Old Bay seasoning from McCormick. I like the taste of it on most things and not to sharp a spice in it either. The house is smelling good as the soup cooks on the wood stove.
Crepes are more eggs than flour and pancakes more flour than eggs.
I did dump the greembeans in the batter and was okay. Put strawberry jelly on them. I guess I added a teaspoon of sugar to the pancake mix. Yeah I buy the mix. 10# bag I think it is.
I was looking at more sausage yesterday and the little link are dang high. I did not get any. Only saw small packges. Just went to walmart. Got to figure out out why $37 ? I know about $12 for the eye drops. About a $1 tax or so and I have never figured out their tax there. When I feel something is just plain too highI do not buy. $6 on roll of foil. I do not use much foil. Potaoes for Xmas dinner and couple cans of pumpkin. What I should not have bought was though cookies to pass out on the bus. As bus did not run Wed due to weather I got milk too. I rather buy here as get cheaper on Wed.
Dan, that one year I was so short month I shredded zuccs into pan cake batter and fried and sister had sent the recipe. Shedded and just fried too. Sliced and fried. I got cut to 27 hours. Boss cut two of us thatran branches down. County commissioner said they did can if she closed two branches, She did not get more money for her dept. I hung on and used saving to build and they finally got full time. Half pay was more than full time min wage job. I was better off to stay where I was. In long run I was .
Blackeyed pea salad yesterday. Mmmmm....mmmm!! I hadn't made that in years. I muse mayonnaise instead of vinegar based dressing. I am going to have to make that more often. Now I am thinking of red beans and rice...sounds like Christmas dinner to me!
Mine was dab of greenbeans, cream cheese and jelly sandwich and cup on milk to get my pills down.
Bus was late so my Dr worked me in late and so no lunch. Bus dropped me off at Walmart and nothing there but Mac Donalds. I could not see the menu anyway had a shake as was so hungry.
Bus started here picking up at 8 and got home at almost 9. Where she went for last stop was another Mac Donalds. I bought an orange drink. All she could find. they were closing soon as had a water break. It was pure ice on the door walk.
Rice and raisins. I haven't made that in years and it just sounds real good to me right now. Boil some rice drain as well as you can, toss back in pot and add raisins, milk (or cream if you are rich),honey to taste, and heat slowly stirring once in a while. Careful not to add too much liquid. Almond or rum extract is nice in this too. Or real rum! YO HO HO...
Mom would cook rice for like breakfast and have enough left to make rice pudding. Eggs, sugar and cinnamon and canned milk I think, Yeah forgot raisins. Probably vanilla. Bake for a bit.
I think I should cook more rice You can cook rice and let set and it fluffy rice and no draining. I only cooked soupy rice and added any meat scraps to it and veggies if had it. Seasoned it up. . I have not cooked any rice for a month or so. I was cooking a batch last year, then Ramen noodle and then back to rice. First one than the other. I like hot soup. I tried brown rice but it takes so long to cook and never seems to get done. I bought some jasmine rice but have not tried it.
Guess I still have time to cook lima beans for supper. Got ham to add to them. That would give me something for supper for a few days and some to freeze.
on comes and gets me at around 4 or so when he goes to feed cows. Need to be done cooking by then for supper, as eat when I get back. Little ones will cook faster and I do have both kinds.
I have 10# chicken thawing enough to get it divided and into freezer. I am stocked on chicken now. I can not have hot spicey foods now. Most all chicken leg quarters. I like dark meat the best. Got the bag of chicken setting in a pan about 2 inches deep in fridge. I do not have any cooked chicken in the freezer.
So glad to hear this...I hadn't see you here in a couple of days and was wondering if the flu thing got you.
We will not be having dinner tonight. Most Sundays dinner is very light anyway, because we have a group that does lunch after fellowship and then ends up a big meal. This afternoon we had company so there was cheese and crackers that we were munching on, so that covers the dinner meal.
