Local store had a pile of corned beef for 1.69 lb,so bought 8 in 2.5,3 lbs size.
Gonna crock pot up 2 tonight,i dinner, one for sandwiches.
Got 12 more corned beef. Guy looks in my cart and says "I'm a meat buyer and prices are sky high" They don't want to order meat because they don't know what the delivered price will be.Said at 1.69 lb they werent making a dime on the corned beefs.Staters (Local SoCal grocery chain) is freaking on the grocery price increases as their margins are so thin the uncertainty, added gas expenses, really causing them troubles he said.

Do some baking today and yummy burgers and make cole slaw I think.
I made chicken fried steak for first time last night and darned if it wasnt good!.Even better 4 hours later as a leftover.Dipped in egg, saltine and spiced breadcrumbs, not too shabby at all.Cooked in electric skillet at 350 oil, love that skillet for fried stuff with the consistent heat, cooked 5 minutes per side.
I forgot to put any meat out to thaw and so be baked squashed ,mashed seasoned potatoes, whole corn and bread pudding. I forgot sugar in pudding and at noon just put sugar free syrup on it and was fine. Baked it and squash same time.
I have been eating about the same thing daily do to this Warfarin diet . I get tested tomorrow. I been eating 1/2 cup of greenbeans a day for last couple weeks I guess. I quit the peanutbutter that had soybean oil. No shortening in things. I use canola oil. I should be well under by some of the 90 mcg of Vit K. Supper is meat of like 3 oz and bun and greenbeans and potatoes. ( white or sweet.) Half a cup of green stuff (beans, peas, lettuce ) will be it. No spinache or kale or such as too much V K. I can eat other veggie like beets and carrot and corn as it does not have. I have to eat more than I did to gain wt. I am up to 110 it seems now. Snacks. Some V K in my multi Vits. 30 mcgs there. Some oil in bread and buns. And in other Vits. No one told before I could have such and Nancy would just say do not eat green beans. I have to limit it to once a day and get this warfarin set again. So now if I go out to eat I can have the salad okay. Karen is working with me on this. New list of foods to help me figure. I really do not want to take more warfarin then the 5 Mgs a day. I will know tomorrow. The change in the multi Vit messed me up. Same brand and all but they increased the V K. I was back between 2 and 3 last time. My BP shoots up going there as I know she will jab my finger. I am figuring I can make bierrocks to eat. Cabbage I can keep to my level per each. So now I will be able to eat better. I drink whole milk and eat more bread. I had to get a some fat in the diet. That is 5 # I have gained since the middle of March. 5 more to go.
I back up to 108 after my lost again. My supper tonight in a small pork patty in a bun and seasoned mashed potatoes and 1/2 cup peas. Cup of milk. I have to measure my peas and green beans.
That ground pork is not too bad with no salt and pepper on it. I need to bake up the last couple sweet potatoes. It s so hot.
I have stuck to this diet and Thursday go for the blood test again. Was okay last 2 times.
I am tryng to get the Vit K figured for pot pies. If just a crust on top and the mixture is not hardly any peas or greenbeans. Maybe I can cut the crust down with the oil in part and still get something eatable. Oil crust I made was not really good. Need to try a different crust with oil. Butter is so costly to use. Maybe half and half. I have not felt like experimenting while having the crud.
I have the the bread ready to make a bread pudding sand the last 2 of the sale sweet potatoes and I want to do pie crust while I have the oven going. Load the pven all one time and save electric cooking. Supper will be Sweetpotato and greenbeans (beans V K 35) and carrots, pork and cheese on bun. And whole milk.
Dinner to day is cream of chicken soup and couple little cookies (my sugar for day) and milk. Of course a little sugar in the 2 graham crackers and pernutbutter I had at breakfast.
I need a few bits more of V K to keep the number at 2.5 where it should be. Came up from 2.4 .
I got a 2# loaf of cheese stuff at Kroger's with hot peppers in it. White so that get rid of coloring. Does not taste too bad. To me okay. Lot cheaper than Velveeta. I have not tried in a grilled cheese sandwich. Be good in mac and cheese I think. Mexican dishes. I have not tried to melt it. I like real good cheese better but it is a no no now for me. Tastes better to me than that ding cheese they said okay. Morzoreli (sic). . I need some fat in diet. I am holding right around 110 now.
I need to do all my own baking to know what is in food. Some labels can not tell as says and/or. Cooking from scratch is cheaper and better most times. If one does not feel good?
Mashed potatoes with soup. A craving of late. Rough to keep much down, so I stay with simple stuff anymore. Down to 126 this a.m.-which is a gain of half a pound. Sugar tears me up anymore-which takes away my seasonal favorite blackberry pie. They are ripening now, and I managed to pick some of the little ones for a neighbor. She dislikes the big ones that ripen later. Doesn't matter to me-either one makes a dandy pie. Ah well, I can dream!
I know Joyce had it hard to find food to eat. She could manage the strawberry instand breakfast.
I have to measure my greenbeans and peas so don't get too much . I can live with that. I need other things too. Pie crust with shortening I can not have. I am trying to balance vit K mcgs to the 2 warfarin pills I take each day. I can not tell what is in some things so need cook from stratch. Too hot to cook.
Sorry about the blackberry pie. I want ice cream. My sugar limit is very low. I have had no ice cream this past year.

Stew, chopped some meat off a chuck roast and pressure cooking them. The meat on roast made such a nice slice I cut it into 1 inch steaks and got 6 of em,cool, cut while just defrosted enough to fight a knife thru it.
I did not eat much supper last night but had to at to take the pills. Just cheesey on bun and greenbeans and milk. I had had a big lunch in the city. Grilled? chicken breast with cheese and had chopped tomato, pepper and onion on it. Mashed potatoes and milk gravy on them. Broccoli I gave to my son as a no no for me. Chicken had BBQ sauce on it. Was a bit spicey. Good and I ate more than I should I guess. I just drink water when I eat out.
A while back I was in grocery getting a few things. Saw a fella literally stacking those Hungry Man dinner things in his cart. On sale-he must have had thirty of them in there. I wonder if the bulk of America will not be reduced to eating this way before long?
Guys that can not cook can heat the TV dinners and cheaper than eating out. You can have a microwave and no dirty dishes. Cheaper even than MacDonalds.
They can go to laundramat and wash their clothes. If they do not have washer and dryer. Cheaper than sending it out.
One guy here told me he bought the cheap TV dinners when on sale. That did him okay. When I hadmy arm broke and coudl not use at all I could not use a can opener with one hand or jar. But I could heat TV dinners up and eat. Or if had some meals in the freezer I have did up. There is too much salt and fat in the TV dinners for me.
I know one senior lady said she had cereal for breakfast and ate at noon at senor dinners and then sandwich for supper. They cost more now than TV dinners. They did 5 days a week and think they cut to 3 last I heard, anda never been to them. Those cheap TV dinners came up and less food on them, Use to be like 400 cals or better. Too little food any more. 88censt on sale then when had enough food in them.
Beans, rice, flour , pastas it use to be cheap. Since the rich cut their food costs by using it too seems it went way up in cost.
There are those days when one does not feel like cooking. Some thing one can heat or eat cold. I have been eating canned veggies cold. Hot here or I am hot.
Some people really dont like canned veggies,I like em,eat a lot of em.
As for TV dinners,of course they arent the greatest, but they have a place. And you are right, they are cheap too.Yup,some days I just dont want to cook either for a host of reasons. When you are sick, stuff like that just cant be beat for a quick meal also.
Think I mentioned it before,Mom used to cook a ton and make her own TV dinners using the old tins, darn good idea.In fact last night I had an enchilada I froze, had 2 servings extra so froze in those little plastic freezer thing,6 minutes in microwave, let it sit a couple, hey,it was darn good.
