I'm not sure, Colorado. It feels smooth, like a resin. My boss tried to claim it, though. LOL
And no, I'm not gonna leave it rusty, I'm gonna scrub it good with some pads I have just for scrubbing. What doesn't come off with scrubbing will surely come off in the bbq grill. I don't want too much heat applied (just yet), as I don't know exactly what metal I'm dealing with.

Get the rust off and you may find a brand. How my son found the gun brand. It looks like it will clean up. Gun of course no way. Finders keepers. Rusty be steel? Stainless does not rust. Different grades. My old steel butcher knife no brand on it.
I have no idea,Ive used it to whack saplings off the trees.Oh,and I cut up a roast with it,just to see its sharp enough.Mine is 23 inch tip to tip.Wouldnt be surprised if brand is same as Kims,it is a big machete company and the handle looks same.
Wow! I read stainless steel does rust. At least the silverware will when the coating get worn through. Coated with chome came out of the dishwasher with rust spots. I know things will eat holes in it. I had a spoon that had a hole in the bol about through. Left in cereal. Had holes in a steel bowl that I had left canned hominy in. I went to steel bowls as I had busted all my others. I would drop with the arthritis in my hands. Stainless does stain I know.
