I am so tired of all this snow, I want SPRING. We still have 10 inches of snow with what seems to be a daily weather forecast of a inch of snow, usually end up being just a dusting. When leaving for church yesterday morning I opened the back door of the house and there were some crocus plants about a inch out of the ground, was a great reminder that spring is hopefully just around the corner. We were able to get a couple flats of veggies started, so looking forward to a couple months from now when they can actualy go in the garden or a least in the cold frame outside.
When going through the fruit cellar I was bring some jars of canned food up to the kitchen, I realized that we are down to 1 jar of pickled beets (for salads) 3 quarts of tomatoe juice, and a half dozen jars of peaches left. It is going to be a big canning summer for us. The jars and lids and rings are ready just need some garden fresh fruit and veggies to fill them with. This year I will try to can enough for 2-3 years of everything. My hubby refuses to go to the grocery store anymore with me I keep pointing out that this item was 30cents cheaper a couple weeks ago, it seems like just about everything that I buy has gone up in price, and we won't even talk about fuel for the car and our last propane bill.

Snow is pretty too. But I never lived in it long or ever had much of it. I was a kid, so driving in it wasn't an issue either.
Aaaah.... Crocus. I love crocus. Bet they are striking against the snow!
We too, have had nice warm weather, but I know we always get one last frost mid April everytime! This is about the time, when I have already cleaned up the garden and exposed all the tiny new growth just in time to have the frost get it. You would think after all these years I would learn ... nope!
Hope Spring comes to you soon Shar!
Sounds like you have a busy summer of canning planned. Good for you!
