So the chickens were on strike,no eggs to be seen.
And they were flat out refusing to even discuss it with Management.
So being at an impasse, and them holding the winning cards we bought 4 dozen eggs, for 5 dollars.
I pointed out this egg purchase, cost, and what it costs to feed chickens that dont lay eggs. Also pointed out what was going on at Chrysler, layoffs and plant closings. And EXACTLY what a plant closing means to non working chickens, and it isnt pretty.
So they got the message and started putting out 3 eggs/day.
Which leaves me with waaaay to many eggs.So I took 2 dozen last night and made pickled eggs.Used this recipe and added a bit of chili powder for color. Also added a sliced onion.Already tasty after one day.
Joe Jost's Pickled Eggs
8 hard-boiled eggs, peeled 2 tablespoons pickling spice 1 cup white wine vinegar 1 1/2 scant cups water 1 tablespoon sugar 1 teaspoon tumeric 2 teaspoons salt
Mix all ingredients except eggs together in a glass jar with tight-fitting lid (I boiled it first). Put peeled eggs in liquid. Don't refrigerate. Keep eggs in sealed jar at least two days before using. May refrigerate after two days. The marinade may be used several times; just add more egg
